What is actually in the kit

A pole barn kit is a system of parts that work together. Here is each component and the job it does in your building.

Laminated columns

The columns carry the building. Laminated posts are built up from multiple plies, which keeps them straighter and stronger than a solid post over tall walls and long spans.

Covered by a 50 year laminated column warranty.

Trusses

Engineered roof trusses span the width of the building and carry the roof load down into the columns, so you get clear open space with no interior posts.

Purlins

Purlins run across the top of the trusses and give the roof panels something to fasten to, spaced for the load your area requires.

Girts

Girts run horizontally across the columns and support the wall panels. They also give you fastening points for interior finishes later.

Steel roofing and siding

Ribbed steel panels form the roof and walls. Panel colors are selected in the designer and cut to length for your building.

Covered by a 40 year metal warranty.

Fasteners

Screws with sealing washers hold the panels to the framing. Using the fasteners supplied with the kit is what keeps the panel warranty intact.

Trim

Corner, rake, eave, and base trim close the panel edges, keep weather out, and give the building a finished line at every transition.

Overhead and walk doors

Overhead doors from 8x8 through 16x16 plus walk doors, with the framing and headers to carry the openings, all included in the package you configure.

Windows

Windows bring in daylight and are framed into the wall layout you set in the designer.

Assembly drawings

Drawings that show how the parts go together, so you or your crew can raise the building in the right order.

Basic generic assembly drawings are emailed after payment.

Component warranties

Coverage comes from the individual components in the kit, so each part carries the manufacturer term for that product.

Delivery

Delivery is about three weeks from order placement when engineered drawings are not required. Orders that require engineered drawings take longer. Your specialist confirms the schedule on your quote.

Getting it to your site

Good to know

  • Engineering services and stamped plans are available for an additional fee. Site specific permitting plans start at $2,775 per job.
  • Concrete slabs are not part of the kit. Tell your sales rep if you are pouring a slab so the plans match.
  • Delivery normally arrives by semi with a 53 foot trailer and a Moffett forklift, so the site needs room for that truck. Straight truck delivery is available by request at additional cost.
